The First Hurdle is ideally located for walkers and cyclists.

Less than a mile from the start of Southern End of Offa’s Dyke at Sedbury  and at the crossroads of the Wye Valley the Vale of Usk, Forest of Dean and gateway to South Wales.

The First Hurdle is used by many walkers following the course of Offa’s Dyke trail which starts (or ends!) at Chesptow. Contours Walking Holidays organise pre-planned individual tours with pre-booked accommodation.

For cyclists, we can offer secure storage for your bikes with an outside area where you can hose down and make minor repairs or adjustments. For more serious problems we have an arrangement with local bike shop  559 Bikes for sales and emergency repairs. 559Bikes also arrange escorted rides through the surrounding area 559 Bikes.

For both bikers and walkers, we can store and dry any wet clothes and we have a menu from a local bakers who will make up a packed lunch for you.

If you are arriving by train or National Express coach, Chepstow Railway Station and the coach terminus are both just an easy 5-minute walk from the guest house.
